May Meeting Wrap Up
What has been happening?
Christine Hunt hosted a wonderful meeting in May
and we had 17 attending. A special welcome to the 4 guests that
also joined us. We had a great presentation from Penny Coffey,
from Toastmasters, who spoke on the importance of Evaluation
in our Speaking Careers and the different ways we can evaluate our
own performance as speakers. This was followed by Doug Duncan
sharing great wisdom on the cultural impacts on our speaking, Doug
has extensive experience speaking in many Eastern cultures and is
a wealth of knowledge. So if you are ever speaking in an Asian Country,
Doug is an amazing resource.
We were also treated to Sarah O presenting a wonderful
"reflection" on the river of wealth. Sarah showed a new
dimension in platform mechanics during her presentation. So if you
were not there you will have to ask about it when you come in June.
If you are a member of NSANZ you really are missing out if you do
not attend your meetings, this is part of your membership so make
the most of it. Also remember as a NSANZ - Christchurch Chapter
member you need to present to your fellow members as part of your
membership. So if we have not seen you for a while come along in
June.
Amazing Guest Speaker - Dr Irena Yashin-Shaw
June 10th 7 for 7.30pm
Thanks to some smooth talking and negotiation by Martz
and Jocelyn, Dr Irena Yashin-Shaw is our Guest
Speaker at the June meeting. This an incredible opportunity to see
an internationally renowned speaker at close quarters. Dr Yashin-Shaw's
session was one of the most popular at the recent NSAA Convention
and all the attendees raved about her brilliance. So feel free to
come along and also bring a friend as well. This is an opportunity
not to be missed. For more information on Dr Irena Yashin-Shaw visit
www.speakingedge.com.au
Please ensure you RSVP for this meeting to jocelyn@martz.co.nz
May Speakers Cafe
As a special treat we had a Speakers Cafe in May. Hannah
Samuels from NSANZ Auckland was in Christchurch and entertained
us for the evening. Hannah spoke on Reputation Branding and how
important our reputation is when it comes to building our business's.
We had 10 members, 3 guest and 1 guidedog at the meeting. Following
Hannahs wonderful presentation we shared hot muffins and conversation.
Keep you eye out for the next Speakers Cafe, in August, with Dan
Poynter on publishing this is always a great evening.
