NSANZ Meetings, Events and Training for Speakers

NSANZ runs a variety of meetings, events and training for any professional speakers who work on their own. NSANZ chapter meetings give speakers the chance to come together, receive support, fellowship, and professional development and mentoring.

NSANZ meetings and events include:

Chapter Meetings
Chapter meetings are held monthly in Auckland and Christchurch. An MC (a volunteer member) will run the meeting, which usually contains one or two short presentations, and a keynote presentation by a professional speaker.

Professional Development Speakers
Each year 8 seminars covering the 8 Core Competencies of Professional Speaking will be run in Auckland and Christchurch. Auckland runs two seminars on one Saturday each month from June-September. Christchurch runs one seminar a month from March-October. More information on the Professional Development Series >

Speakers’ Café sessions
Speakers Cafes are one-off sessions organised outside the regular meeting schedule.  They can be

  • A presentation by a visiting professional speaker (usually open to non-members)
  • A session focused on a particular skill-set (e.g. Master of Ceremonies) (may be open to non-members)
  • A session where members present and receive feedback on their presentation (for members only)

If you have an idea for a speakers café, then contact a committee member and volunteer to organise it.

National Speakers Association of Australia Convention and Events
The NSAA convention is held each year in March/April. Many New Zealand speakers attend, and a Kiwi breakfast is held each year as part of the event.

NSAA also holds its events in New Zealand, usually sessions for those who hold the NSAA professional member designation or higher.

Annual Awards Dinner
The Auckland Chapter holds an Annual Awards Dinner to present the chapter awards. It is usually held in December.

The Christchurch Chapter Awards are presented at the December chapter meeting.

NSANZ Executive Meetings
The NSANZ Executive meets monthly by teleconference, usually on the first or second Monday of the month at 7.30pm.

The NSANZ AGM
The NSANZ AGM is held annually usually on the first or second Monday in August. It is usually held in Auckland, at the home of a committee member. Any member may attend. Voting is by postal vote.

"You owe it to yourself"

I highly commend NSANZ to anyone considering a career in Professional
Speaking … I travel 3 hours from my hometown of Rotorua to attend the monthly NSANZ meetings in Auckland and the NSANZ Professional development series, the Speaker Boot camp and any other events that my Eagles (Mentors) recommend.

I encourage you to seize this opportunity of a lifetime in the lifetime of the opportunity and make the commitment to join NSANZ. You owe it to yourself.
