The New Zealand Speaking and Events Industry

The Professional Speaking Industry is developing world-wide, and is still relatively young in New Zealand.

In the past, companies and organisations tended to find speakers for conferences and meetings mainly from their internal ranks.  This didn't automatically mean that the speaker had the ability to present effectively, or could keep the audience awake.

The increasing pace of change, the heightened sophistication of audiences and the focus on achieving results has led to a demand for polished and professional speakers who know how to effectively connect with an audience.

Professional Speakers can now be found every day at events across New Zealand  -  ranging from small team sales meetings and service group dinners to huge corporate conventions and multi national conferences.  NSANZ members will be seen presenting keynotes, workshops and seminars, and acting as facilitators, trainers and MCs.

Some NSANZ members travel and present internationally, others focus on New Zealand audiences.  You will find them at New Zealand’s major convention centres, in corporate boardrooms, or exquisite country hideaways, or presenting via webinar, video-link or teleconference call to an audience around the world.

The Role of Speaker Bureaux

The Speaking Industry in New Zealand is quite different from that in the USA or even Australia.

Speaker Bureaux in New Zealand  tend to deal more with speakers who are celebrities - like TV presenters or famous sportspeople.   They also represent many professional speakers who  have developed a high reputation in the industry.

You can check the bureaux websites for more information about the speakers they represent.

The National Speakers “Find A Speaker” database helps event organisers reach many speakers not represented by the bureaux.
